Riders of the Purple Sage - Zane Grey The Log of a Cowboy - by Andy Adams The Virginian - Owen Wister Published in 1912, Riders of Purple Sage is the most popular western novel of all time. It is a story of a female rancher who incurs the wrath of the local clergy when she refuses to marry the deacon. To get revenge, the town preacher begin harassing the woman until a gunslinger rides into town and decides to help her out. The Log of a Cowboy is about a young cowboy helping to drive three thousand circle-dot longhorns along the Great Western Cattle Trail from Brownsville to Montana in 1882. Andy Adams wrote it as a response to the unrealistic cowboy stories that were being written at that time. The Virginian is the story of a hero, who epitomizes integrity, responsibility, loyalty, justice, chivalry, and magnanimity. It is regarded as the first cowboy novel and it stands as one of the top 50 best-selling works of fiction. Hollywood experts considered the book to be the basis for the modern fictional cowboy. This is one of many books in the series 3 Books To Know. If you liked this book, look for the other titles in the series, we are sure you will like some of the topics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Riders of the Purple Sage Zane Grey - Riders of the Purple Sage" is Zane Grey's best-known novel. Originally published in 1912, it was one of the earliest works of Western fiction and played a significant role in popularizing that genre. The story uses a third person narrator to tell the story from the point of view of two main characters Bern Venter and Jane Withersteen and a few minor characters. Jane Withersteen, Mormon-born Utah native, goes against her church when she befriends a young Gentile rider, Venters. He is trailing the mysterious Masked Rider through the Old West. Both Venters and a notorious gunman named Lassiter bring adventure, intrigue, and romance to the Withersteen ranch. The story is also somewhat complex, with several plots unfolding that eventually come together at the end of the story, and conveniently leave open the certainty of a sequel.

This book was released on 2022-06-01 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Educational and entertaining, funny and free. Everyone likes having a superhero in the family. At least, life won't be boring. But Megan Havervlok doesn't have a family. She lives in an orphanage, and that orphanage stands in Polderdam, the most boring village in the Netherlands. That makes it difficult to experience exciting adventures. Everything changes on her eighth birthday. On that day, Granny comes to visit. Granny needs help with counting and calculations, with baking eggs and… with experiencing adventures. Granny is a superhero by profession. Meg loves adventures. She offers to help Granny. This results in a colourful collection of short stories, each more beautiful and funnier than the other. Meg wrote them all in a beautiful book, with a front cover by the famous artist Gerard Monster, a book that grandmothers can read aloud, so their grandchildren can enjoy, and above all laugh out loud. For grandmothers and their grandchildren, aged 9 to 99. Megan Havervlok wrote numbers 1 and 2 on Google Books' list of the world's most popular free Dutch children's books (April 2022). When we asked Megan how an eight-year-old could beat all those professional authors, she said: "Pffff. Simple. With a superhero like Granny around, everything is possible."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The work explores the notion that we are all perceptually branded by the experiences and milieu of early childhood. The author illustrates this with tales set in his native Edinburgh, Scotland during the 1940s and 1950s. Through a series of adventures and misadventures, the young protagonist makes discoveries about life and people, ranging from the inconsistencies and contradictions of adult behavior to learning about mortality. In one episode, the young lad is tricked into having his tonsils removed. As he grows older, he learns about betrayal by adults and authority figures. Poems that reinforce each of these learning themes introduce each chapter and the use of local dialect sharpens the sense of location and social milieu. Exploring the universal themes of the innocence of childhood, “Figs of the Imagination” illustrates how much we are a product of the formative years and how these key life experiences prepare children to become adults.
